Dallas Summer Musicals: Wicked

This 2015-2016 season of Dallas Summer Musicals, I am proud to be a member of the DSM Showbiz Crew. Through the program, I will be given tickets to a few shows on its opening night (or opening week, in this case) and I get to let you guys know how the performance goes!

GOOOOOOOD NEWWWWS. I was so excited to get to check out Wicked last week as it celebrated its return to Dallas (since it left in 2013)! I actually caught one of those last performances then, with my mom. At the time, we nothing about the story and not even one song! We went in naive and left the theatre enthralled. I can't even tell you how many times I've listened to the soundtrack since then.

Seeing it with fresh eyes and having every single lyric memorized was such a fun experience. I felt like a kid in a candy store as soon as "No one Mourns the Wicked" began. I almost wish they had a sing-a-long performance because I would be belting it out (for now, my car will continue being my Wicked stage...you're welcome, world).

Everybody knows a Glinda the Good. She's way too perky for a normal human and just so "good" that no one notices her sarcasm, snark and selfishness. No matter the unbelievable things that come out of her mouth, you still love her. Love to hate her. And love her again.

FAVORITE GLINDA QUOTES

"Are people born Wicked? Or do they have Wickedness thrust upon them?"

"Dearest darlingest Momsie and Popsical:"

"And with an assist from me | To be who you'll be | Instead of dreary who-you-were: are | There's nothing that can stop you | From becoming popu- ler: lar."

FAVORITE ELPHABA QUOTES

"And since folks here, to an absurd degree | Seem fixated on your verdigris | Would it be all right by you | If I de-greenify you?"

I want to take my whole family to this one. I think it'd be a perfect first musical for my sister and brother-in-law and I know my husband and Dad would love it as well. My mom and I are already sold, of course.

That's what happens when you see this performance for the first time. You go in as normal person and you leave Wicked through and through. In the very best way.

Don't miss seeing the Wicked Dallas performances at Music Hall at Fair Park now through May 22. Buy your tickets now!
