$30 Dallas Date

We don't take a lot of time to plan out official dates. We don't have pets or kiddos, so it's pretty easy on the evening-of to just say, "Hey, you want to go see that new movie?," "Want to go watch that sporting event tonight?," "Want to go out to eat at this really cool place? I heard it's great!"

A couple of weeks ago, we had a free weekend afternoon and Coach surprised me with a date, out of our usual movie, sports, dinner regiment...and it totally didn't cost very much money at all!

Let me disclose a little bit more info and take off the fakeness that blogs can sometimes give off, before we get started: I was completely not happy with him that day (for reasons that I can't even remember at this moment) and this was a total I'm-sorry-make-up-date. He asked me to get dressed to go somewhere and I was so mad I almost said, "No," just to prove a point.

Reluctantly and very I'm-not-talking-to-you-y, I got dressed and into the car. We were headed in the direction of downtown, but I had no idea where we were going. I actually thought we were going to "Sprinkles" because that may just be a weakness of mine. Soon into the drive, all was forgiven and we could get on with a happy date!

FIVE DOLLARS | We parked at an open lot behind the T. Boone Pickens YMCA, just a few block away from our date destination(s). On weekends, there isn't an hourly time-limit, which is nice!

FREE | We finally got to the Dallas Museum of Art. Now, we are totally not "arty" people (he isn't at all...and I'm more on the DIY-crafty side of art), but I am a total lover of furniture design, so that's where I had the most fun. He acted just as enthused! Did you see me mention that the museum is now completely free? So awesome!

Next we walked a couple more blocks over to Klyde Warren Park. If I lived anywhere in the heart of Dallas, I'd have to make it near Klyde Warren. I'd go all the time. Anyway, it was the perfect day for some food truck picnicking, so that's just what we did.

FIVE DOLLARS | I headed over to Abe's Flavor Flave. Maybe it was the fact that they had the Cowboys game playing for us, or that I could eat tacos every day of the week, but that's what I decided to grab for lunch. Delicious in every way you want a taco to be.

TEN DOLLARS | He walked a little further down the truck line to The Butcher's Son. He got some Mac-N-Beefy sliders, which is basically barbecue sliders with mac-n-cheese squares inside. He loved those! Probably will be coming back for some more soon.

TEN DOLLARS | Yes, we nearly spent half of our date money on these ice cream-cookie desserts from CoolHaus, but they were well worth every penny. I chose the Red Velvet ice cream on Red Velvet cookies, while he ventured out a bit and got Whiskey Lucky Charm ice cream with two Chocolate Chunk Pretzel cookies. We traded and had a few bites of the other and agreed that they were both so delicious! Red Velvet is a good go-to when you know you like the flavor, but they have so many out-of-the-ordinary options as well (I'm talking: Potato Chip & Butterscotch or Fried Chicken & Waffles). Seriously, I just need a sample-platter of them all!

Basically this whole afternoon date is just a little bit of parking money and whatever you choose to spend on food and dessert. We had a great time and will definitely be taking a mental note to add this to our go-to date list!
