NYC | Lady Liberty

Although I'd been to New York before, I had never met Lady Liberty. Last week, when Crystal and I got up and ready to go, it was such a drizzly, dreary morning! It wasn't the type of day you want to do the whole Ellis Island experience, that's for sure. It was more like, where-is-my-umbrella, cover-my-camera kind of day. Luckily, my friends know the secret/freebie way to see Lady Liberty!

Crystal and I took the subway to the Staten Island Ferry port, where we waited a bit and boarded with hundreds of other people...for free. We sat on the right side and had a front-row view of the statue, once we were nearby.

Again, it was such a foggy day, but I was so happy to have the chance to see her for the first time. What a symbol of pride she is for so many!

"'Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!'"
