DIY | Christmas Boxes

No, you didn't read that wrong, I'm actually talking Christmas. If you think it's crazy to be chatting up the holiday now, just know that I actually did this project back in July. I'm insane.

At my job, we purged and moved office spaces this summer, so it was a great time to go through all the stuff that tends to get packed away in storage rooms. Among that stuff was all the boxes our Apple products of the past have been packaged in. Instead of throwing them away, I decided to recycle them for myself.

I took some of the randomly sized boxes and covered them in all my bright, fun Christmas wrapping paper patterns. I hate to see things wasted (like those giant trash bags full of opened wrapping on Christmas morning), it's going to be so nice to have these boxes for several years without a mess! While part of the fun on Christmas is letting kiddos rip into gifts, we don't have any of those (kids) at my parent's house, so all the adults can just open gifts by opening boxes. Less mess. Less waste. Less time wasted digging into the gifts!

The trick it to wrap each piece individually so that it opens easily. Top of the box gets wrapped and bottom of the box gets wrapped. It takes a while, but if you pair it with a Netflix Gilmore Girls binge, you won't even notice how much time has passed.

Because I want these to be used more than once, I covered each side with glue from a glue stick, then wrapped as usual with regular tape. Once the glue dried, they are very secure.

Before I knew it, I had a storage closet packed with fancy gift boxes of all sizes! Now I can start the buying of gifts, right? AND, if I forget what I wrapped (yes, happens every year), I can open the box right up and close it back without re-wrapping.

Anyone else already in Christmas-mode? I know it's not even fall yet, but I'm trying to truly get on my shopping this year. No last-minute mall visits! Look out Santa, I'm going to be the most prepared elf of all, this year!
