TX Recovery | Victoria

As the winds die down and the water recedes after a natural disaster like Hurricane Harvey, so does the news and the social media attention. The world is focused on the the next storm (rightfully so, as immediate danger and preparation are important), but our Texas cities will be here quietly rebuilding for the days, weeks, months and years to come. I hope to continue focusing some attention on the recovery efforts here in my home state. If you have something to add, especially from a local perspective, please send me an email with that information.

  • Hurricane Harvey Relief for the Texas Zoo - Fort Worth Zoo is leading a team to the Texas Zoo in Victoria to assess damage and cleanup efforts. Greatest need is financial.
  • Texas Baptist Men (participating in cleanup efforts in many Texas cities) - If you would like to designate 100% of your donation to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, please write Hurricane Harvey in the optional memo field when selecting DR Hurricanes.
  • Victoria County Interfaith Disaster Response (via GoFundMe) - all contributions will be distributed to residents by the non-profit board and will remain in Victoria County.
  • Victoria ISD Donation Drives - These donations (clothing, shoes, school supplies and food) can be made in person in Victoria, TX.
